A Septic Tank Misadventure

A CODA indirectly assisted my mother in a rescue of a septic tank misadventure.

Whoa! You were damn lucky you were discovered in time and rescued. That was a close call!

Mishkazena,

Yep! AND lucky that the hole was filled up with water...it cushioned my fall because had it been a dry well, I'd have landed right at the bottom and possibly gotten seriously injured as the well was pretty deep and jagged with rocks.

Oh, my that brings back memories! As a Deaf mother I had to struggle to keep all my children within sight at all times, especially when in distracting surroundings like fairgrounds or parks or zoos.

Maybe the Almighty that made sure you were pulled out in time was also helping me watch my kids, even through the three or four times one inevitably disappeared to finally turn up after a long search. I'm so glad they are all grown up now and don't need to be watched like hawks!

Dianrez,

Me, too, especially with my older son who was very active as a child and always wandered off to explore.

Cy, you were even more fortunate.

Thank god you are still alive, if you werent, I wont be able to watch your wonderful vlogs! I can imagine how scary it is to be inside the hole after we fixed our septic pump last weekend, it looked scary down there, smile. Good story you shared!

10 yrs ago we had a small mud volcano coming out of the drain on the parking lot next to my place. It was a sight to be seen. A yellow/brownish slime fountain about 4 ft tall sometimes spitting out chunks of partially disolved toilet paper. Even sept tank decided to fart.

Septic tank was over filled and sewer was backing up.

Nesmuth,

EWWWW....I imagine that was what happened to my friend's septic pump when it broke down...At least my septic hole was nothing but rainwater...I'd think I would live with nightmares if I fell in a hole filled with sewage.

Mon Dieu! That little boy was a Godsend, Cy! He is your hero whom you shall never forget for the rest of your life! We have learned from you that it can happen to people of any age.

Hi Cy...

Glad that you turned out safely! I know what's like to be trapped and I grew up on the farm and sometimes, I did not get help for hours because I was left alone or my brother was on another side of the hills. He had to run and find me. At least, the hole was not activated with the sewer system. That was a HUGE relief!

Wow! You were lucky to be rescued and having a hearing boy who heard your cries.

Cy,

I always enjoy your vlog postings!

Several things, I like to address some shortcomings within this vlog feature -

Highly recommended for not wearing orange shirt which could blur with your Causacian skin tone.

Althought, I am culturally deaf myself. I have some kind of difficulty of reading your signs and facial expression with orange color hue reflected on your hands and face. :)

Just wear any shirt that contrast your skin tone. :)

I like to give you several tips how to make your vlogging more bearable like

The point of setting (where is exactly the place, ex. state or city) because the DeafRead audience are not really the local ones familar with your environment.

Specific year and month for much better understanding of when this incident occurred. ;)

Your sign for "rope" raises some kind of questionable approriatation for textureness and consistency.

Your sign for rope was kinda confused with "string" or "wire" sign. You didn't describe more specific kind of rope for tying the CODA's skinny dad to rescue you.

I would email you privately, instead of this very public correction and feeback. I do not know your email address anyway.

Here is my email address - rlmdeaf@hotmail.com for future private contacts, etc. Okay? :)

I was really glad that you did get rescued in time. I almost got trapped in an empty bank vault above my family's apartment in Romney, WV. I somewhat sneaked in the vacant bank within my family's apartment building.

If I closed the door of bank vault. My deaf mother and other townspeople peeked into the windows of bank door and waved hands to signal me to get out of the bank vault.

I still get attracted to the defaulted bank vault (no longer used) within stores and hotels which those buildings used to be the old banks.

I perhaps should be a bank robber. Just kidding about this one.

I used to play with the real bank vaults and real military tanks
when I was very young kid. I usually barged in various places like lawyers' office and courtrooms and other places to keep myself from boredom. My deaf mother usually worked at the factory.

I grew up in cities and towns until my family moved to the countryside when I was 12 years old.

Of course, I was very upset about my family relocated to the rural area without any places to keep me busy, ex. library.

I always went to libraries and bookstores every day as a kid. I usually got mischevious wherever I went. I played with traffic light controls via busy city intersection. I always found things to be accessed while other people couldn't.

I also opened the city jail cells for criminals to escape, but the sheriff's office managed to capture them before escaped out of the building.

My real excuse for being a deaf kid. Yes, I often got punished for what I done. I knew how to negoitate myself out of punishments. I was really a smart-aleck kid. I couldn't help if I was a latch-key kid myself while my deaf mother worked all days and got exhausted after her workdays.

My deaf mother had to hire babysitters to keep eyes on me during daytimes and nights. My poor mother dealt with me for being that way.

RLM,

Yes, I know. Orange is a skin-tone color. I noticed that immediately but I just didnt want to make another vlog. This vlog is just storytelling and nothing important to share like some of my vlogs which I might have changed shirts for better viewership to ensure my message is well received.

As for the rope - yeah. I guess it's one of those times I go off my normal sign for rope which is "R" instead of "I". However, it is, to me, clearly a rope going down the hole...I would think my viewers would be able to deduce that a mere string wouldn't do the job.

And yes, the speed of my videostreaming was slow due to having 3 computers in the same room in use at the same time. My sons like to use the large table behind mine to play Warcraft tournament and guitar tournament via Xbox Live. What can I say? I have two teen boys in the house.

Vault? Oh boy that would trigger claustrobophia real quickly for me...I think the septic tank hole experience caused claustrobophia for me...I get real nervous whenever I ride elevators, walk in a stairway, ride in a crowded bus, etc.

Wow! What an experience you had! I think it can happen to anyone regardless if they are deaf or not. I remember when I was taking a bath, my hearing mom accidently locking herself out of the house, she had no way of letting me know as I was taking a bath so she threw tennis balls on the bathroom window. At first, I didn't know what was going on and had to open the window and saw my mom out there. That was hilarious but your situation was a very sombering one. I think we mothers have a built-in instinct knowing if our children are in danger. thanks for sharing it with us!
